Howe, Cope & Catania, Inc. is
a retained 'Boutique' Executive Search Firm which specializes in Human Resources
recruiting. Our success has been built by establishing and maintaining a very
broad network of Human Resources professionals. A client who retains Howe, Cope
& Catania, to fill a position is in essence renting our credibility with
many thousands of talented HR professionals.
The three founders of our firm are
Bill Howe, Liz Cope and Chas Catania. Bill Howe, is a former Korn Ferry partner
who also worked for several other retained search firms. He decided in the
early 1980's that having so many partners and such a large hands-off list
was hampering his ability to fill searches with the best quality candidates
within a reasonable period of time. He opened Howe & Associates in 1986 in
Greenwich, CT and Liz joined him then. In 1994, Liz was named a partner in the firm. Chas started in
the recruiting business in 1985 with Fortune Consultants. He later joined
Andover Group as a Senior Partner and a few years later, founded Catania &
Associates. In 1993 he joined Bill and Liz, and in 1994 the name of the firm
was changed to Howe, Cope & Catania. Over time, we came to specialize in
Human Resources. Bill Howe has now retired, but he was such a strong mentor to
Liz and continues to be a good friend to both Liz and Chas, that the firm
continues to bear his name.
What makes us unique:
Liz and Chas personally manage
every search. They perform most of their own research and are involved from the
first day of the search. What you see is what you get.
One of the complaints we sometimes
hear about some other search firms is that the Partner(s) shows up to meet the
client, and then again late in the process (to help close the deal), but they
are nowhere to be found during the search itself.
We are extremely hands-on; Liz and
Chas ARE Howe, Cope & Catania. WE develop the specs. with the client, WE
make the contacts with prospective candidates, WE screen them, present them to
the client, and assist in every facet of the hiring process. Our repeat
business is our best reference.
We maintain an extensive database,
currently over 33,000 names strong. In short we feel that our smallness is our
competitive advantage. Since we have been doing this (exclusive to HR) for a
number of years, we have developed extremely close relationships with many of
our candidates and several of our clients, to the point where we consider many of them
